Another one of those catchy titles - and I literally meant the road is clear. Let me explain and give you some visuals. At 8 p.m. last night, this was the end of my driveway - I'm literally standing in my driveway looking at the road - there was probably only 8 - 12 inches of water there at the deepest part, but having lived here all my life - I would know not to drive through this - I know that there is a deep culvert on the left - most people would not notice or know that - and yet, clear up until 10 p.m. last night I heard people traveling thru this - and what for? When they arrived at my folks driveway it was waist deep there! You learn a lot about your fellow humans during flood times. Some of them just don't seem real smart. Now if you are reading this and you are one of those that drive thru standing water during flood times - let me ask you - how do you actually know for sure that the road is still there?!! Or how can you tell what is lying there that the river just tossed on over there - I've lost two friends to this river, one during a flood and one during regular season - I've have a very healthy fear of water. While I stood and took this picture - it actually rose over my toes - I was talking to dad, who had walked down from his driveway- kind of funny that we showed up at the same time! We didn't plan that - it just happened.
It is also funny that this went in as a full size picture when I clicked on medium and the first picture loaded and then disappeared! Oh joy - it's going to be one of those days with this computer!! Anyway, I didn't venture down again - I figured the 8 o'clock pictures were enough - I know it came up some more - but have not ventured down this morning to see if I could figure out how high it went. Just know that we did not have to worry about anyone driving up to visit last night! This is one of those crazy memories from child hood - whenever it flooded - one of us would always make a trek to the flood waters to keep a watch - we got so so we could tell when it was up over one part of the road - knowing if it would cover another section - we could tell how fast it came up - and know how long it would take it to go down - all a great learning process. I'm a little rusty now because with the dam at Stonewall - that has caused a slow down in the flooding so we don't view this as often now. Enough of this. Moving on!
I was going to put the birthday cake pictures today - but will wait tomorrow as I am working on something to post with that and did not get that finished last night - so I'll put that up tomorrow along with some cute pictures. Today's post shows the new window sheets in the Mini Occasions catalog - I'm still undecided about these, although I do think they would be good to use with things like the matchbox die cut. So I may experiment with that later this week. It seems strange not to stamp much - I did stamp the swirl from the Baroque motifs set onto the corner of the pink cardstock and ofcourse the greeting, but other than that - the white flowery images are already on the plastic window sheet. I tried several different papers as the background but I honestly liked the solid color cardstock the best. Then used our larger brads for the flower centers. This will grow on me I think.
Well, that's all for here today - can't go run as the park trail will be a mess today from the high waters - so will hopefully get in there tomorrow. Forced to exercise at home. Off to work and work out! Thanks for coming by.
