WEll, first thing - it is good to find that you don't seem to think I'm totally crazy with my anniversary gift, however, I did have to chuckle at my friend, Sarah saying I had an adoring husband!! Easy for her to say - her husband, Rob, would probably get her the same type of gift!!! and Terri - hmmm, car washes as a gift - I must mention that - I hate washing the car - well, vacuuming it is the worse so I might have to mention that to my husband as a birthday gift instead of a chain saw or weed eater or other work related tool!
I was a little concerned last night that I might not get my card loaded with the weather we were having but I got a break in the rain and immediately checking out the internet connection and yeah! no rain or clouds blocking the signal! So immediately set out to load some pictures. Then I had to decide which picture I wanted to post first so I chose my least favorite of the batch.
Now I know that many of you like the style of Elements of Style, but I have to admit it is a very difficult one for me to use - It is more of a victorian stamp style and that it out of my range of comfort so this one will need a little explaining. I first stamped the image in stayz on ink onto vellum - cardstock vellum, the nice, heavy vellum. I then flipped it over and used a dauber with daffodil delight ink and filled in the flowers on the back side - not really worrying whether I stayed in the lines or not - this is called stained glass and ofcourse I could have tried different colors, but was trying to go for the simple look this week. I then adhered it to what I believe is Marina Mist cardstock - (I really must write this down when I bring them up here for pictures!) I actually smudged some ink onto the vellum - AFTER I had everything all completed - so I simply cut out one of the single flowers and colored it and then put it directly above the Birthday Wishes - so you'd never know and chances are most people won't read all this and still won't know!
Ofcourse all that stamping was done on pieces that were cut out with the top note die and then the night of navy cardstock was run through the lattice embossing folder again - finished up with the Old Olive base for the card. Whew - It was easier to create the card than type all this!!!!
No surprises today - no new toys and all the critters here have been strangely quiet this spring/summer so life here is quiet. Enjoy the day - at least we've had some rain to help out after all the heat. Cooler temperatures certainly feel great!!!
