Baby Bundle or bundle of Baby!

Well, some of you may have noticed in Friday's comments that Michelle, a regular commenter here mentioned that she didn't get to comment earlier because she was busy - having a baby!  Michelle is a regular at my stamp camps and classes and hostess groups - as a matter of fact she stopped in at my Benedum Stamp camp for a few minutes the other night just to say hi!  Well, today she has a new addition to her family - Jaxson - an 8.5 lb. baby boy - and do you know what she said to me?  This was soooo easy - whew - 8.5 lbs. doesn't sound all that easy to me!  So ofcourse this card today is on its way to her and her husband, Scott.

Now I kept the color scheme all in blue because, ofcourse, it is a boy - what else would anyone I know actually have but a boy?!!!  However, I did sneak that pink heart in there! Michelle really likes pacific point - so I included it with marina mist.  The buggy was stamped twice, once on the cardstock and then once on designer paper and then I cut it out and adhered it over the stamped image to give it more personality.  I used one of the border punches  and the dotted swiss folder for a little texture and ofcourse all those cute little baby images,  as a background - and all of these images are from Baby Bundle, one of the new stamp sets in the new catalog.  OOps - I almost forgot the cute little fellow peeking out over the buggy!!

Something a little different

Well, I just couldn't wait - I have a card first off - it goes with the item that I'm putting up here.

I have used the designer paper - To The Nines and copied a template I got from another demonstrator - it is cut on the fold - so this little jumsuit opens for an inside greeting - since I have already written in it - you'll not get to see the inside - didn't think before I finished it.  See the little rabbit in the pocket?  That's from cute and Cuddly that is retiring this month - simply cut him out and he looks like a little stuffed animal in the pocket.

Now the item that goes with it - ever get tired of the same old gifts for baby showers?  If you want to purchase diapers and baby oil, powder, etc. how in the world to you make it look interesting or fun - not just another pack of diapers and gunk - we'll here's an incredibly easy way to spruce everything up:

 
How about a diaper wreath?  I started out with a coat hanger that I had shaped as a wreath, then covered it with ribbon - then took diapers and honestly - the bigger the better - they make fuller wreaths, but both of these babies are new so I went with the small size.  Anyway, you wrap the diapers around the wreath - so that the folded part "folds"over the wreath shape - then the two open ends are laying over each other, just like they would if a baby was inside them - you simply use ribbon to tie the tops together, which actually holds them in place on the wreath.  In real life this looks fuller, but I think I should have actually tried to put more diapers on these -live and learn.  Then I simply tied on little gifts, rattles, toothbrushes, toys, etc.  Now I got to thinking that I probably should try something like this using all Stampin Up! product and make it as a hostess gift - so that's my next project - hopefully I can get that done before my hostess party next week-end.  That's all for today! 

New Week

Off to a new week and new news!  What a busy week-end - Husband drug me out of the house to take a break so we had a different kind of busy week-end.  Friday  was the fair day and the fireworks, as I already reported.  Then Saturday I stayed out of the stamp room and got caught up a little on things here in the house preparing for our youngest daughter to come for a visit.  Then we went to the local Rodeo.  I've been to many many horse shows over the years, but never what was qualified as a Rodeo performance.  It was actually a lot of fun.  We've been dragging our lawn chairs all over the place this week-end.  Then Sunday was church and a quiet afternoon - although I spent it in the stamp room getting ready for this month's stamp camps and 1,2,3 classes. While down there working on camp cards I made a card for today to announce some really big news.

Gotta love this - Look at allllll that pink!  Looks like it is a color that I'm going to have to start using - like it or not - Our oldest daughter called last week to let us know that we are going to be the proud grandparents of a Grand Daughter - woohoo - Now we'll have a boy and a girl .  Lucky girl - she'll have an older brother - something I always thought would be great - ofcourse being a girl - she may not agree once she's here!  I've not started buying any pink clothes yet - but it is bound to happen soon!  We still have several months before she arrives but I started buying clothes for Gideon long before he arrived! 

So my card uses the Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink - then I used the new Melon Mambo ink to stamp the elephant from Animal Stories and I'm Kind of a Big Deal from Cute and Cuddly and It's a Girl from Nursery Necessities - I had to stick the sizzlit flower on there just to match the Tall Tales designer paper and add another girly item! 

I also got the bear picture taken.  I went to see about loading them on here - and evidently they are still on my camera - I thought I had loaded them - I'll get them up on here for Tuesday's post.  I'll have a question for you too when you see that picture.  Well, that's all for today's news!  Thanks for stopping by. 

Spoiled Again

Well, I've been spoiled - having the opportunity to post on my blog the evening before has been wonderful so that I can get up and get a run in first thing in the morning - however, that was just not the case last night.  Cloud cover and rain was so heavy here that there was no satellite signal to be found.  Got to love this weather - I hope our friends got their hay up - because I sure didn't know that rain was coming yesterday - planned on mowing the yard last night - but now I'm right back to where I started a few weeks ago - yard in desperate need of mowing.  Oh well, enough whining about things I can't change.  I've had to wait for a break in the showers this morning just to get internet service but I'd better get a move on here or I'll lose it!!

Today's post is one of those things I seldom do - I bet I have not made more than a dozen of this type card in the 6 years I've been a demonstrator.  Baby Cards.  I was working in the stamp room yesterday trying to figure out what I would post today when I remembered that I needed a baby card for one of the gals at our church.  So I started the daunting task of creating a baby card.  I've got one done - can't say that I'm thrilled with it but it is done!!

Now in case you are wondering why the clouds and stars?  I was thinking - new baby - hopes and dreams - you know - and it is a boy - so the little boat and the blues.  I wanted to stay away from adding any ribbon - not a good choice for a little boy's card!  This is about the last of my parisian breeze designer paper and I've just got a few more sheets of the baja breeze paper.  I didn't like this color at first, but it has grown on me - mostly because it matched so well with Parisian Breeze.  Now I must get out and get a gift to go with the card!!!  Hope the rain stops soon.

Also - here are a couple of side notes - remember the little tin I had of cards for the benefit a few weeks ago?  It auctioned off for $40 - those of you that make cards on a regular basis - great item to donate for family reunions, benefits, etc.   Be sure you stamp the hand made stamp on the back of it.  One more thing - I am accummulating quite a stack of retiring stamp cards that I've been making and posting this month - so anyone who comments on the blog this month (you still have several days left)  I'll throw your names in a hat and pick a few random names and divy up the cards.  I certainly don't need that many cards laying around here!! Life is never dull here

Well, it seems that even on our slow days, things are normally crazy!  Yesterday the maple sap was dripping off like crazy - we hurried down to our trees shortly before dark and a good portion of the buckets were nearly full to the rim - these are 5 gallon buckets - the last time we had this much sap taken off the trees, as we came down the hill - the entire thing upset on us and we lost it all.  Sooo, as we came down the same hill I was reaching behind the 4 wheeler hanging on to the little wagon hoping and praying it would not tip over.  We made it  - got down on the road and then started home - with dusk closing in.  About 1/2 mile from home, I noticed that the wagon "sounded" different - I keep a close eye on it because we don't want any lids to fly off or anything weird to happen - I yelled for Steve to stop immediately - one of the tires had gone flat.  Joy oh bliss - we have allllllll this sap - and no way to finish transporting it home - so he asks if I want to stay with the buckets - on this God forsaken little back road - you bet - I didn't want anyone coming along and stealing it!!!!  So while he went for the truck - I sat and guarded the wagon - and watched the geese fly over to get settled for the night.  it was a little spooky but only one vehicle went by - So we unloaded all the sap into the truck and then loaded the wagon UP into the truck also - I tell you - Steve really should have married some amazon woman to help him with all the stuff he thinks I can do!  I ofcourse rode in the  back with all the sap - (I'm sure someone will point out that ONE MORE sap made no difference back there ) no way was I allowing those buckets to get sloshed around at that point!!!  So now the sap is cooking down - I know none of you will believe it that are waiting on your contest guesses - but we still do not have a Gallon of syrup yet!  Just want you to know that - you will appreciate the time it takes and understand why we don't sit up some road side stand! 

Enough rambling - now for the real reason you showed up here today!!  Another card!!  WEll, I needed a baby card this morning to mail so I whipped this one out last night - I love the movers and shapers die cut - it did my cutting and scoring for this card - and maybe it I talked to it kindly enough - it would actually add the embellishments on the card also!  I love the bright colors on this - doesn't say baby boy or girl - just baby!  I used the little duck again from Goody Goody Gumdrops and lots of bright colors.  Also pulled out the scalloped edge punch and my friend, Jane, would have loved it because the scalloped edge stuck to the designer paper  before I was ready - and ofcourse I could not move it lose from the designer paper - she would have been cackling because that is the one thing she does not like about our little tape dispensers - the immediate "holding" action.  So my top scallop is crooked - I tried, unsuccessfully, to tear it loose - so it stayed that way!  However, I still like the card!!!

Had to take a short break to go get  my instructions for watching the sap today ;)  Heard birds out there and it sounds like Spring!!!   Disregard the fact that snow is in the forecast for tomorrow - it sounds like Spring today!! Enjoy the day!!! Thanks for stopping by!!!
