Now first thing - don't get all excited that there is a Saturday with Steve - there probably will be for the next month - but this does not mean a regular "thing" again! Husband just says ideas are exhausted! :) So I decided I'd take you on a trip across country. When I decided to head West to convention, I said how much I hated flying - even though I do a good bit of it - still don't like it. My husband said - well, I wouldn't mind going across the country one more time so I'll drive - yeah!!! I, personally, love going across the country and seeing the small town America. This year I was able to help with the driving - last year I was in a lot of pain from an injury and spent most of the trip - trying to sleep - this year I enjoyed the ride!
We managed to get a short visit in with our daughters, coming and going and I'll try to remember to share a fun picture about that at the end of these next series of Saturdays. Our first big stop was Estes Park, Colorado. If you will remember, last year in September, they had severe floodingin that area - we saw a lot of evidence of that flooding. Some of the roads had just been re-opened shortly before we got there. We started our first evening there with a rain shower - and a rainbow! Great way to start a vacation. The next morning we were up early to head into Rocky Mt. National Park - all I can say is awesome!!!!
Steve gets all excited here in Colorado - because Elk season is just around the corner and he LOVES going out there in Colorado - so needless to say - he was pretty excited over this next picture I took also
We saw this big boy on one of the first hikes we took and it was brrrr cold! Plus, we had not acclimated to the high altitude so this hike seemed like it went on forever! Straight up the mountain. We saw lots of marmots
and lots of Pika - but I didn't get any pictures of those - they were too small and too quick. We saw a lot of Indian snow - do you know why it is called Indian snow?
Well, the answer is because there's a pache here and apache there - get it? ahhh, yes, I know it was lame, but that's what they told us as a joke! Whatever - it is just amazing to see in person.

Then in this next picture, notice the poles that are along side the road - these are markers for the winter time when the snow plows go on the road - so they can be sure they are "still on the road'! Yikes - this would not be a place to make a wrong turn!
That's all for the Rocky Mountain National Park - hope you enjoyed the view! Stop by next week to see what item we removed from our bucket list on this trip - great fun!
